The Dixie Jet Story

Legendary Effectiveness

From the early 1960’s the Dixie Jet Spoons have been catching fish of all species in clear water impoundments, inland waterways, streams and oceans. Fish have proven time-and-again Dixie Jet Spoons are the spoons of choice. You never know what you will catch with the Dixie Jet. In early 1970’s production of the Dixie Jet Spoons stopped with the death of its founder. This void had many fishermen and collectors searching old tackle shops, garage sales, internet and their grandfathers tackle boxes in hopes of finding the last remaining Dixie Jet Spoons. The original Dixie Jet Spoons could be spotted by the stamped fish with Dixie Jet clearly marked inside the fish’s body and located on the back of the spoon.

Bringing Back "The Legend"

For many years’ companies have tried, unsuccessfully, to reproduce the Dixie Jet Spoon with its unique fall and sound reverberations underwater. None of these companies have reproduced the “Original,” until now. Thanks to Basswishes Tackle Company (BWTC), LLC and Dixie Jet Lures (DJL), LLC located in Richland, Missouri, the Dixie Jet Spoons are now a Registered Trademark and are back and better than ever.

One Soldiers' Dream

Dixie Jet Spoons are 100% manufactured, assembled, packaged and shipped in the United States of America. At Dixie Jet Lures, LLC, we pride ourselves in keeping jobs in America, which is displayed in both our workmanship and attention to detail in every product we offer. Dixie Jet Lures, LLC was founded by Tom Murphy, a retired Army Lieutenant Colonel, who served twenty-five years on active duty. Tom’s desire to bring the legendary Dixie Jet Spoon back to life was predicated on the fact that every aspect of these spoons had to be made with percision and every component in the manufacturing process had to take place within the United States. Our spoons are manufactured in two locations; Isle, Minnesota and Midway, Arkansas. Most of our spoons are manufactured with Marine grade brass and our slab spoons are made with pure lead. All of our packaging and backing cards come from St. Louis, Missouri. Our spoons are assembled by the Mennonites located in Tunas, Missouri. Our Feathered Treble Hooks are assembled in Richland, Missouri. Our split rings, barrel swivels, support wires, inner boxes, and hooks come from a variety of locations to include; Washington State, South Dakota, New York, New Jersey, Missouri and Tennessee. All packaging and shipping are done in Richland, Missouri. In all, Dixie Jet Lures has a minimum of thirty-three people involved in the manufacturing, assembly, packaging, invoicing, sales and shipping of our products. We are proud knowing our products employ so many great American’s and we hope this legacy will last forever.
